Do You Know Your Traffic Signs?

Prezi

What is Prezi?

Prezi is a fun, creative and easy way to make presentations. You easily add pictures, videos and text. You can add your own background then create the presentation.

What does this tool means for me as a student in the Education Program?

It makes creating presentations more fun and interact for the audience. This tool can help me give presentations that help people to stay focused while I teach. Prezi lets me be able to create any own kind of presentation. I enjoy being able to be free to create what I would like.

What will I do with this tool as a future teacher?

I remember when I was a student in elementary school and I hated power-points. I thought they were boring because it wasn't really interact. Prezi will allow students to stay focused while teaching, only if I make Prezi entertaining for the students. I can easily add videos, link websites and add photos.

PROS of
  • Many different ways to create presentations
  • Pre-made presentations
  • Easy to add photos, links and videos

CONS of
  • When first using Prezi, it's hard to figure out
  • Takes time if you want to be detailed
  • Difficult to create your own Prezi
  • Very time consuming

How will I use this tool in my classroom to present information?

When I have to do instruction in my classroom, I can use Prezi to present the information I need to give to the students. When adding videos, photos and links, it will help me to keep my students attention.

How can my students utilize this tool?

I can post the Prezi I made on my education blog. The students can access it themselves if they need a review on the lesson.

Let's Get to Know You!

Google Forms

What is Google Forms?

This tool makes it easy to create surveys that users can share with their friends, family, students and random people. Users can create their own questions and use their own style by picking colors and images to upload. Using Google Forms allows people to get quick answers!

What does this tool means for me as a student in the Education Program?

This tool can help me gather information on other students about what has helped them be successful in the Education Program. I can also create surveys for projects that I will need to complete. Google Forms will save me tons of time because it's easy to create and I can get information fast!

What will I do with this tool as a future teacher?

I want to do the same type of Google Form I just created. In the form it asked questions to get to know students better. When they have a birthday, I know what treat to give them. When we can't have recess outside, I can try to give everyone an option to do that they will like. The main reason why I created this Google Form, was to know the concerns my students while they are in my classroom. It's hard for students to share things to me in person but online it's a lot easier for them.

PROS of

  • Quick way to get answers
  • Easy to create
  • Easy ways to access

CONS of

  • Hard to make the Form personalized. All you can add are photos.
  • People can submit answers as many times as they want. So it could throw off the results if you're doing a survey.

How will I use this tool in my classroom to present information?

Google Forms can help me get feed back while teaching in the classroom. I can ask for ways to improve my teachings.Along with that, students can also tell me what they are struggling with. In addition, I can use this for mini quizzes to test the student's knowledge on what they have been learning.

How can my students utilize this tool?

They can give me open and honest answers without any pressure. It's easier for people to send me messages about their feelings and concerns than it is to tell me in person. They can also know how well they are doing on learning the core standards. I can give them feed back on the quizzes I will give them.

Sun, Moon and Stars!

Thinglink

What is Thinglink ?

Thinglink lets users create their own interactive way of learning. You can use pictures, video and text. You upload an image or a 360 degree view the create your own pop ups with information about the objective you are teaching.

What does this tool means for me as a student in the Education Program?

This tool will allow me to find more creative ways for students to learn. This is a great way for me to practice finding ways to help students learn, pay attention and have fun while doing it. Along with that, I'm able to understand the material better, making it easier to teach the students.

What will I do with this tool as a future teacher?

I can use Thinglink for students to learn at home. Their assignment will be to go to the blog and look up The Sun, Earth and Moon lesson that's connected to Thinglink. After going over the lesson at home, they will be able to do homework to do in class about what they have learned.
Another way I can do this is by using computer lab time to let them explore what I had created on Thinglink then have a group discussion about the discovers they found.

PROS of Thinglink:

  • Interactive for students to use which will help them pay attention.
  • Lets students explore on their own and take learning at the pace they need it.
  • Helps the visual learners be able to easily learn concepts.
CONS of Thinglink:
  • Students can easily be get distracted by the websites that are posted. They could easily wonder the internet.
  • It is very time consuming.

How will I use this tool in my classroom to present information?

I can use Thinglink as homework for the students. They can do their research at home then come to class and teach each other. Another way I could use this tool is to have students create their own Thinglink about a topic then present it in class. This will allow them to gain techniques on the computer.

How can my students utilize this tool?

They can make this tool useful by studying the material I give them. They can really learn for themselves and explore. I can also post lessons on Thinglink on my blog to give a review for students if they are struggling with a lesson.
